While every home we design is unique, our approach has always remained the same: listen first, collaborate closely, and create homes designed around the way our clients live.

Our Story

Tracy’s Custom Home Designs was founded in 2006 by Roy and Tracy Homfeld with a simple vision:
to help families create homes that are thoughtfully designed around the way they live.

After graduating from Texas A&M University with engineering degrees, Roy and Tracy settled in Northeast Texas. Roy began providing residential design services for local builders and homeowners. What started as a small design firm quickly grew as more families discovered the value of working directly with a team that listened to their ideas, embraced flexibility, and created homes tailored to their unique lifestyle and property.

Growing up on a farm and ranch in the Texas Panhandle, Roy developed an appreciation for the land and the importance of designing homes that belong on it. That perspective continues to shape many of the homes Tracy’s designs today, especially on acreage throughout Northeast Texas.

From the beginning, Tracy’s has embraced technology that helps clients make confident decisions. Long before 3D visualization became common, the firm began using interactive modeling to help homeowners experience their future home before construction began. Today, that same commitment to innovation continues to make the design process more enjoyable, collaborative, and informed.

As the company continued to grow, Tracy’s Custom Home Designs relocated to its downtown Farmersville office in 2019 and expanded into a collaborative team of talented designers. While the company has grown, its purpose has remained the same: to provide exceptional customer service, thoughtful design, and a personalized experience for every client.

Today, Tracy’s Custom Home Designs has helped design more than 1,500 custom homes throughout Northeast Texas and beyond.

Why the Name "Tracy's"?

Yes…we get that question quite a bit!

The company was named after Roy’s wife, Tracy. While Tracy continued her engineering career and isn’t involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, her name has remained a meaningful part of the company ever since.

And yes…we still think it makes a pretty, great logo.

Meet the Tracy's Custom Home Designs Team

Roy Homfeld, CEO

Roy grew up on a family farm/ranch outside Adrian, Texas and obtained an engineering degree at Texas A&M University. There he met his wife, Tracy, native to San Antonio. Both are registered Professional Engineers with the State of Texas and avid supporters of their local communities and service organizations. In the fall, they travel back to College Station with their daughter, to attend all the Texas Aggie football games and help host the Ol’ Whoop-ty tailgate for friends and family.

Cortney Kottmeier, Client Relations Manager

Cortney is a proud Texas native and Collin College graduate with a strong background in Administrative Assistance and Business Development. She serves as the main point of contact throughout the design process, ensuring clients feel supported and informed from start to finish.

Megan Gray

Megan grew up in a small town in Southeast Kansas and graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. In her spare time, Megan enjoys volunteering at local animal shelters and Habitat for Humanity, as well as traveling and spending time with family.

Hayden Bolin

Originally from Fort Smith, AR, Hayden holds a B.S. in Biology from UA Little Rock. Seeking a creative path, she earned her A.A.S. in Interior Design from Collin College in May 2023. Hayden lives in Plano, TX, with her high school sweetheart and their two cats. She was recognized as a national 30 Under 30 prestigious NKBA designer in 2025. An avid traveler who counts Scotland as her favorite destination, she spends her weekends reading at a coffee shop, playing board games at a brewery, or working on a new craft project at home.

Danita White

Danita was born in Georgia, raised in Texas, and graduated from Liberty University in Virginia. For the past several years, she has worked as an independent social media manager for small and mid-sized organizations in various industries, including martech, nonprofit, and CPG. When she is not working, she is always down for a good time with good food, good drinks, and good people. She enjoys traveling, the great outdoors, movies, books, and word puzzles.

Steven Behnke

Steve grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota, and recently moved to Anna, TX. Steve thoroughly enjoys working in residential design and construction, which he has done professionally since 1977. Steve, with his wife Gail, enjoys his grandchildren, his dogs, Minnesota sports teams, boating, camping, and exploring local eateries and breweries.

Grace Wixson

Grace graduated from the University of Arkansas, with a Bachelor's of Interior Architecture & Design. She's passionate about residential design and believes that a home should be both beautiful and deeply personal – a reflection of the people who live in it. She's especially drawn to timeless architecture and thoughtful details that create spaces families can enjoy for lifetimes. Outside of the office, Grace enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her 2 dogs, along with cooking, working out, and listening to audiobooks.

Gerardo Pagán

Originally from a small town outside the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Gerardo moved to Dallas, Texas in 2018. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Pontifical Catholic University of PR. He has a passion for Architecture, Drafting and Design with 8 years of experience in the residential design industry. If you don't find him in the office, you'll find him traveling around the state and spending time with his loved ones.
